FCA examines cartel allegations in roofing felt sector

The FCA today launched dawn raids into the premises of contractors and wholesalers in roofing felt sector. The inspections were fuelled by the FCA’s investigations, which hinted at market sharing and price and bidding cooperation between firms.

Analysing the evidence and obtaining further accounts possibly needed is expected to last several months, i.e. it is not yet possible to draw conclusions about potential violations of the Competition Act.

Internationally speaking, the fight against cartels is the central playground of competition authorities. E.g. the European Commission has actively intervened with cartel suspicions during the past few years. Likewise, the FCA has intensified its operations against cartels.
